Arctic Range Adventure
It is the ultimate goal of Arctic Range Adventure to focus on experiential, first-hand involvement with the Yukon environment and culture. Guests can enjoy all of the excitement and all of the challenges brought by the harsh environment of the Arctic in an adventurous way.
Arctic Range Adventure offers unique adventures combined with the rich history of the far North:
Wildlife & Hot Springs - Half Day:
We will visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve where you’ll have the opportunity to view and photograph wildlife in their natural habitat. Dalls sheep, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, wapiti (elk), woodland caribou, wood bison, musk-ox, moose and even lynx can all be seen on this tour - usually up close! To cap a great day, we’ll travel to the nearby Takhini Hotsprings. The outdoor hot springs pool provides a warm sanctuary amid the cold weather and is a must-do activity while visiting Whitehorse.
Aurora Viewing - Yukon Delight:
Discover scenic Whitehorse, the Yukon’s capital, surrounded by endless mountains. On successive evenings, you’ll travel to the AuroraCentre, located just outside the city centre, yet far enough from the city lights to be an idyllic Northern Lights viewing location.
In the evenings you will gaze at Northern Lights while lounging beside a cozy wood stove or roaring campfire, the perfect way to enjoy your relaxing vacation. Daytimes are free for optional winter sightseeing, shopping and touring in and around the capital.
White Pass Train and Skagway - Full Day:
This tour starts in Whitehorse and travels along the South Klondike Highway to Fraser, BC, connecting with the world famous narrow gauge White Pass railway over the White Pass Summit and into Skagway, Alaska.
This historic railway was built during the Klondike Gold Rush, and the journey serves up fantastic mountain landscapes, glaciers and waterfalls as you travel along through tunnels and over trestles.
In Skagway, you will have the chance to discover the historic downtown, the gateway for many Stampeders on the way to the Klondike Goldfields.
Carcross & Southern Lakes Hiking Tour - Full Day:
Starting in Whitehorse, we stop first at beautiful Miles Canyon with its famous suspension bridge and continue to the South Klondike Highway where the mountains rise as we approach Carcross and the Southern Lakes region – a well-known photographer’s paradise.
You will visit the smallest desert in the world - the Carcross desert - and the village of Carcross, a charming lakeshore community teeming with First Nations and gold-rush history. On a beginner-level hiking tour on scenic trails, you will overlook the grand Southern Lakes. This region is nowadays the final stop for the White Pass Railway. We will also admire Emerald Lake, called "Rainbow Lake” by the locals due to its sensational colouration.
