Barossa Valley – the wine capital of Australia, is a relaxed and friendly place. Travel through the scenic Torrens Gorge to the Barossa Valley. Enjoy a tasting of fine wines at Trevor Jones or Kellermeister, Travel over Jacobs Creek to visit some smaller wine cellars, full of rustic charm who make wines in the traditional Barossa method, these include Rockford and Charlie Melton. Stop for a stroll in the German town of Tanunda – discover the small shops, many of which specialize in crafts made by the locals. Before lunch, enjoy an unsurpassed view over the entire Barossa Valley from atop Menglers Hill. Lunch will be alfresco under the vines or at Vintners restaurant just out of Angaston. The afternoon brings Henschke winery, a visit to the historic Yalumba, the biggest family-run winery in Australia. There may also be time to visit boutique producers such as Torbreck, Rolf Binder or Two hands. And a visit to Maggie’s beer Farm shop is a must for food lovers.
Just 40 km’s south of Adelaide there is over 100 small, very individual wineries. Your guide will personally escort you via the picturesque town of Clarendon to Coriole winery – producing an outstanding range of wines, olives, olive oils and cheeses surrounded by magnificent views and gardens. Visit d’Arenberg winery host to a range of outstanding and innovative wines. Options for lunch include d’Arrys Veranda restaurant, the scenic Currant Shed or alfresco under the vines picnic style. Winery options in the afternoon include Italian wine-style Primo Estate winery, the more rustic Wirra Wirra winery or Penny’s Hill which also showcases Australian artists. Tours can also be fully customized and feature more gourmet food focus including exploring the Blessed Cheese Trail, Olive products, locally produced Almonds or Fruitchocs or options to visit less explored smaller wineries.
Travel through the scenic Torrens Gorge to the Barossa Valley and continue over Jacobs Creek for a tasting of the fine wines at the Grant Burge winery and onto Rockford Wine Cellars for more traditional Barossa wines. Stop for a stroll in the German town of Tanunda – many of the shops pecialise in crafts made by the locals. After a lunch stop take in the view from the top of Menglers Hill for an unsurpassed view over the entire Valley. Out next stop will be Henschkes winery in Keyneton, a fifth-generation German winery producing outstanding wines. You’ll spend your overnight in a charming B&B in the Adelaide Hills.
The next morning, visit the historic German village of Hahndorf. Taste cheeses from Woodside cheese wrights and fine wines produced by Hillstowe wines. Travel through the Hills to Hardys Chateau Reynella winery, a winery with magnificent gardens to stroll plus wonderful wines to taste. Chateau Reynella is also the historical site where the first wine was made in South Australia. Next, you’ll visit the picturesque town of Clarendon and the Coriole winery, they produce some exceptional unique wine styles. Olive Grove is next on the list specializing in products from locally grown olives. Visit D’arenberg winery with innovative wines made by a fourth-generation family-run winery.
